The Roberts Creek wild rose is finally blooming. Here is a peek at one of the blossoms. It is a large bloom. The 75th Ave. wild rose is also blooming. Here is a picture of it too with three blossoms. The one from 140th still hasn't opened up yet but it will be blooming soon too.
The Roberts Creek one I brought back from Canada in 2000. For those of you who have no clue as to where Roberts Creek is...it is 30 miles above Vancouver, B.C. My grandparents used to own property up there and my friend Donna bought her parents property next door to it. She kindly let our family use their two cottages for a few days to celebrate our 40th anniversary that year. It was the first time most of our kids had ever been there. They had heard many stories about Roberts Creek their whole growing up years but hadn't been there. Gram and Grampop had a wild rose hedge all along their beach property. My sister, Bev and my two cousins Pene and Poppe, and I built a fort under some of them one summer. So it was something that had a lot of memories for me and I wanted to bring a little start back with me to plant in my container garden. It nearly died on the trip home but I managed to get it into some water and with some root tone it managed to survive. This is the first year it has bloomed.
