I can only imagine
What it will be like,
When I walk
By your side...
What it will be like,
When I walk
By your side...
I can only imagine,
What my eyes will see,
When your face
Is before me.
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine
Chorus: Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing "Hallelujah!"? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine. Yeah, I can only imagine!
I can only imagine,
When that day comes,
And I find myself,
Standing in the Son.
I can only imagine,
When all I will do,
Is forever,
Forever worship You!
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine (2 x)
As we sang this song in church this morning, I didn't have to "imagine" because I have had the experience of being in His presence and for me I was kneeling at His feet and in awe of Him. I was just sitting there, still, basking in the warmth and power of His love for me. Everything else in the universe just paled in the light of His love. I felt so complete. There was not one thing I longed for other than to be there in His presence. I experienced that peace that passes all understanding and I wanted for nothing. I didn't want to leave His side. Just to sit there in worship of Him was enough. I wish I could say that I experience this every day, but I don't. It was a rare, but healing time for me.

You see I had been carrying a lot of anger and hatred toward a person who had deeply hurt me and all of a sudden Jesus "appeared" to me and said to me "You will go into that dark pit along with the person you are angry at. Vengence is mine. I earned the right to it on the cross. But you, Come follow me!" and I knew I had to make a choice. I didn't want to be separated from Him and so I just let all that anger and hatred go (I gave it all over to Him) and by the warmth and power of His love for me I went and knelt down at his feet and in that moment I was healed of all my bitterness and anger and hatred. I felt cleansed and whole and at complete peace. I found my joy in Him!
Are you only "imagining" today or have you experienced being in His presence? Or are you carrying a burden of anger or resentment toward someone? All that it will do is rob you of the joy and peace you deserve through Jesus Christ. He can exchange all that "junk" within you for His peace and His joy and heal you completely. I KNOW! I don't have to "imagine" any longer. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could KNOW too?
Here is the Assurance March song from childhood days!
Can we know that Jesus saves us, can we know? Be assured each moment, everywhere we (everywhere we go with Jesus)? Can we know our sins are all forgiven, washed away? That our path is leading to God's perfect day?
Oh yes, we can know, can know our sins are washed away, we can know, can know our sins are washed away: Chapter one verse twelve of John...is the ground we stand upon..."For as many as received Him to them gave He the power to become the sons of God even to those who believed on His name. "
We can know that Jesus saves us, we can know. Be assured each moment, everywhere we (everywhere we go with Jesus). We can know our sins are all forgiven, washed away. That our path is leading to God's perfect day!
Thanks for sharing that, Lynn. What a great experience! I found myself overwhelmed by God's amazing love today at church too. He is so indescribable!!
