Discerning The Difference...

There is no doubt that the weather is on everyones mind today. We all feel like a puddle of sweat. The last I checked it was 92* by around 6 p.m. this evening. My fingers are still so sticky that it is hard to type without making a ton of mistakes. My fingers stick to the keys and then I can't move on to the next ones with out first having to "unglue" my fingers from the first ones.

Maybe this is just a little taste of what hell is like. I don't need to be convinced that it isn't a place I would want to spend eternity. I think God gives us days like this and experiences that are unpleasant so that we can appreciate the good days and experiences and circumstances when they come along. Without the contrast how would we be able to discern the difference? Or how would we be grateful unless we have bad experiences and days to make the good days look even better?

So whenever you go through a bad time in life just know that you are being given a glimpse of what hell is like so that you will appreciate the good times even more. And better yet, that you praise God for those good times as you envision what Heaven will be like.

Here is a poem that seems to tell it better than I can...

The Weaver
by Unknown

My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oftimes he weaveth sorrow
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget he sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not 'til the loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reasons why...

The dark threads are as needful
In the skillful weavers hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern he has planned.

May God reveal the pattern in your life and help you appreciate the process as you go through life.

Heavenly Father,
Sometimes it is hard to accept the frustrations, the discomforts and the pain that comes into our life. Help us to accept it as part of your plan for us that we can't see right now as to how it will all play out in the final pattern. It will be more beautiful than any of us can imagine. Help us to trust you for the outcome.
In Jesus precious name..
Amen!
